Referrals for young people aged 16–18 can happen anytime throughout the year on a spot-purchase basis. Local authorities are invited to visit Secure Steps to see what we have to offer first-hand. We also provide extended visits with a manager, allowing you to meet staff from various homes and discuss how we can cater to the individual and specialist needs of each child or young person.
For young people who are living with significant trauma, these needs must be considered within the matching process. We have a robust assessment process that commences prior to the young person living in our home. This assessment looks at all aspects of needs, which are both current and possible future needs. This allows us to ensure that placements will have longevity and that the that the assessment of needs is captured within the practice of development and the progress of required outcomes.
We understand that young adults with emotional, behavioural, and complex needs require compassionate, fully trained staff to support them through any challenging behaviour. We conduct compatibility assessments to evaluate the potential impact of a new admission on our current group of young people and vice versa. Young people who struggle to live with others may not be suited for our group living environments and might need more individualized living and support plans.
